Was the DVD reissued?

A few years ago, the DVD was released as the "50th Birthday Edition". This year the Blu-Ray was released with the same cover as the 50th BE. I was in Wal Mart tonight and saw the 50th Birthday Edition, except I noticed something was different. Rather than the Grinch's hat, coat, and shoes being fuzzy on the slipcover, it was completely shiny, and instead of saying "50th Birthday Edition" at the top it just said "Deluxe Edition". I looked at the packaging for a copyright date and it said 2008, but if I remember correctly, the 50th BE was still being sold last year. Did they simply repackage the disc with a cover that was altered to say "Deluxe Edition" this year considering it's no longer 50 years old AND to coincide with the Blu-Ray release? Or was this "Deluxe Edition" truly issued last year? Does anyone know if the contents of the discs are the same?

Well, the 50th birthday one was called "50th Birthday Deluxe Edition". I think they just made new packaging (took out the 50th birthday part since it's not 50 years old anymore). If it is the same dvd, it's the best one available. It's the only one where the grinch is actually green and not mustard color.

I just bought the soundtrack today, which I highly recommend, and when I put it in the DVD player just to play the narration and music it actually had the film. It was only about $10. In the CD player it starts with about 20 minutes of music, singing and Boris Karloff reading the story. I think I'll add a separate thread, too.

Does this new "Deluxe Edition" DVD still have the 'Horton Hears a Who!' cartoon? I bought the "Classic Christmas Favorites" box set that came out last year, and the Grinch disc that was in the package was re-authored to include additional Christmas specials, and I assume that they had to take out 'Horton' to make room for the additional specials, but they also retained (what I think is) all of the bonus features.

My copy has Horton Hears a Who, which surprised me since it's not listed on the back cover. Strangely, the back cover does list an audio commentary by June Foray and historian Phil Roman, but my DVD doesn't have it.
