In the beginning, the Grinch is thinking about the coming day. There is a scene when the Whos carry out a covered dish to the table. They uncover the dish and there is another who with a covered dish. It continues several times until there is a strawberry presented to a little girl. I swear that this scene was omitted. Anyone notice that or know why ??
Hmmm...I think you may be right. The Grinch has aired twice in the last three weeks -- I saw it on TNT, and last night it was on ABC. I know I saw the scene in the TNT airing (but it was an apple I thought, not a strawberry), but I don't recall seeing it last night -- but I was only half-watching it.
"I hope she didn't take my attempt to destroy her too seriously."
purrpurr, you are totally correct. That's not the only omission...the song "You're a mean One, Mr. Grinch", and the montage of the Grinch stealing the Whos blind, has been trimmed, and I noticed that during the climax, when the reformed Grinch is scrambling up the snow covered mountain to rescue the slipping sled, he kicked back snow into the face of his dog Max, partially burying him. That quick moment was snipped as well.
There's only one reason for any of this...so the greedy networks can squeeze in more commercial time, the artistic integrity of this holiday classic be damned. It's obvious who the real Grinch's are, and unlike Suess' immortal character, they regrettably never see the error of their ways.
You are absolutely right. It is a shame when ANYTHING is deleted from a work of art....but as the saying goes, "The lunatics are now running the asylum"
