Favorite scenes?

What are everybody's favorite scenes from this?

Mine are:

The beginning when they take the tree home and decorate

The Grinch imagining all the Who children playing with all their noisy toys

When he sneaks into the homes and steals everything...particularly I like it when he sneaks into the children's bedroom and there's 4 of them in bed, each with a candy cane and he just slips them out of their hands and sneaks away

When he's surprised by the fact that even with nothing, the Whos are still happy

Then after his heart grows and he brings everything back and they all celebrate Christmas

reply

My favorite was when the Grinch slithered on his belly like a snake after he broke into the house to steal the toys.

ha ha!!! I like that, too! ..and all the other little, clever touches that Mel Blanc added: like shooting the Christmas balls like pool balls! etc. etc.

I like the ending best. When the Grinch has a change of heart.

I like the whole stealing sequence accompanied by the song, "You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch." I also like when the Grinch has his change of heart and is trying to keep Max and the sleigh full of Christmas from going over the mountain top.

One scene that really gets me is when the Grinch is confronted by Cindy Lou - here he's been cheerfully, maliciously going about his work, but when he actually faces one of his victims he wavers, his mouth twitches a bit, maybe he's not the nasty soandso he's made out to be (and his easily shifting into benevolent Santa mode backs that up).

I've been a Chuck Jones fan from before I knew who he was, and I love those recyclings of old Looney Toons bits - like the Grinch's quietly fuming take toward the camera after he whistles for Max (see: the bulldog in Hubie & Bertie's 'Cheese Chasers') or his pulling a terrified Max off him (see: Porky wih Sylvester in 'Jumping Jupiter').

My favorite is the part in the musical score after the narrator says, "It started in low, then it started to grow" and there is the humming of the choir buildling up towards the reprise of "Welcome Christmas." It moves me every time.

Now I don't know if I'm a man dreaming he's a deer, or a deer dreaming he's a man...

When he puts the reindeer horns on Max and he cant stand up till he saws some off

But my favorite line reading is

"He slid down the chimney, a rather tight pinch
But if Santa could do it, then so could the Grinch..."

Any scene with Max. That dog just cracks me up.

Totally agree. My favorite is when they first start down the mountain toward Whoville, and while Max is supposed to be in the lead, he gets quickly overtaken by the sled, and when the Grinch next looks, Max is riding on the back of the sleigh! And the way he shrugs and waves at the Grinch when he gets caught.

Love that part too.

I love the Grinch's encounter with Cindy Lou Who. June Foray was absolutely adorable as the voice of Cindy Lou.

Nobody does W.C. Fields singing "Mama Told Me Not to Come" better than Paul Frees.

Mine would have to be when his "heart grew three sizes". The "redemption factor" of the Grinch is so rewarding.

One of my favorite scenes is when the Whos sit down for their feast and another Who bring out a covered dish that contains another Who and then several other Who until an apple appears in the smallest dish for Cindy Lou. It's a very whimsical scene.

I just love the scenes with Max; they're probably my favorites. When he thinks he is going for a ride on the sleigh he is so happy he jumps up front panting with glee. I also love when we see Max riding on the back of the sleigh instead of leading the way.

I think these scenes grab me because I see how excited my dogs (Jack Russell Terriers) get when they even suspect that they may be going for a ride in the truck. (We can't even say the R word nor the T word without seeing them get all hyped up!)

Another one of Max I like is when they show the Grinch's description Christmas in Whoville, which to him will be so horrible, then it cuts to Max smiling while imagining the scene.

Not a scene specifically, but one thing I like throughout the movie is the sound effects. Every little thing, from an ear flopping down, to a face suddenly changing expression, is accompanied by very imaginiative and fitting sound effects.

Yes, MuchToBe...I know the expression on Max's face that you're talking about. Another funny Max moment is when he realizes the Grinch is up to no good--he cowers and hides. Reminds me of the guilty look on my dog Nellie's face when she has done something wrong. I just love that Max.

I just watched this today and it actually brought tears to my eyes, which is not something that usually happens to me with movies. My favorite part is when the Grinch is listening for the Whos to be crying and they just come out singing as always...wouldn't it be great if real people were like that?

Also, on a less cheesy note, the Grinch's smile is one awesome piece of animation.

I completely agree. Max is the best. He's so cute and innocent. I just love all of his little expressions. Like when the Grinch is sewing his costume and suddenly Max's tail appears instead of the thread. That sweet innocent look he gives the Grinch is priceless!

I always love all the lines to "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch". Especially the line, "I wouldn't touch you with a 39 and 1/2 foot pole."
