How long have you been watching this?

I was 5 years old when this cartoon came out. We would all gather around and watch our Christmas cartoons every year, but this one was always my favorite.

Since the first moment I saw this cartoon, I was hooked. It was then, and still is now, my all time favorite Christmas show. Nothing tops this cartoon, IMO. I never miss a showing of it.

I even bought the special edition DVD a couple of years ago. I have to say, now that I own the DVD, I don't just watch it at Christmas anymore. I DO, however, still watch the TV showing of it when it is on. It's tradition for me and my family.

As for the movie..didn't like it. I will take this cartoon over the movie any day of the week. Nothing is better than Boris Karloff telling the story of the Grinch.

It just doesn't get better than that.

Merry Christmas, all!!! And Happy Holidays to the rest!

RightBackAtYa,

Right back at ya! I agree with every word you wrote. I was only two when the Grinch premiered, so I don't exactly know when I first saw it...certainly by the time I was eight or nine, by which time I was a Karloff fan because many of his old horror movies were still frequently shown on TV, and thanks to 'Famous Monsters of Filmland' magazine.

The Grinch is the only holiday show I take time for, even though I did run across "The Charlie Brown Christmas" this year, and watched it through with my grand daughter. We watched the Grinch (her second time) just tonight! I intend to maintain the Grinch tradition at Christmas time long after my then-grown grand kids stare at me in amazement because I'm still transfixed by this 1966 classic! But who knows? Maybe they still will be too.

Merry Christmas to you too!

I watched the original airing too ( I was 6)It was, amongst other things my first exposure to Boris Karloff. I cant say it was my very favorite as a kid (I liked Santa Claus is Coming to town, and Rudolph just as much as a child.) but it is certainly the one that has stuck with me the longest, the first I bought on DVD, and the one I am most likely to watch out of season....
It is not our abilities that show who we truly are...it is our choices

Every year for as long as I remember. Close to 40 years now.

Same here. I've been watching it since it originally premiered. Soon that will be 50 years ago. I never dreamed it and the others we grew up with would become "classics."

I've been watching this for as long as I can remember! Charles Jones was the best animator ever and his equal is not to be found today. And Karloff did a perfect job, allaying whatever fears Dr. Seuss might have had.

I even have this on my iPod, and can watch it anytime, anywhere!

I was 14 when it first aired, and I'm 60 now. Hmmmmm...that's 46 years now. I was on a bus trip to the Holyoke Mall yesterday, and the bus had a DVD player. I bought the DVD at the mall, and we played it on the way back. Believe it or not, there were a couple people on the bus who had NEVER seen it!! Oh, and it was the bus driver's favorite Christmas special, and she was very happy to at least be able to listen to it!!

I'm in the UK, and its hardly ever on TV over here. So I decided to buy it on DVD yesterday. So yesterday was my first time!

I've watched it every year for as long as I've been alive. It's even better now that I get to watch it with my own girls.

27 years. Every year I watch it once!
