Impressions on yet another kid

I just about remember being brought to an airshow as a very young kid by my Dad to see some of the planes that were used in "The Blue Max". I could only have been about 7 or 8. We also went to see the film in the local Cinema. It made a huge impression and probably started my interest in aircraft.

Almost 40 Years later I came across the novel by Jack D.Hunter in a second hand Bookshop. When I read it it brought everything back, even though the book is quite different in many aspects.

I bought the DVD from Amazon and I have starting to make some models of the planes used. In particular the Pfalz D3 which Stachel flew initially.
My father is quite old now and hasn't been to the cinema in many years, but thanks to DVDs and LCD Projectors, I am planning to recreate that cinema vist again this Christmas, for the two of us.

Great file, even better memories.

That's a great story. I only wish that my father was still around to enjoy watching the DVD and listen to it on my 5.1 surround sound.

I love to hear those motors roar!!

If you are in the UK,there is a Blue Max movie museum at Compton Abbas airfield
just south of Shaftsbury on top of the hill! The restaurant is pretty good too and there are some interesting aircraft based there, sometimes doing aerobatics.
