hi, i am still trying to find bridge that george peppard flew under in blue max. i have asked a well known radio station in dublin to help .. the blue max is 40 years old this year. over 2000 part time soldiers known as the FCA took. part as extras if you wish to see some photos tahen by me as a 16 year old german soldier in the movie. send me your email to [email protected]

i was always under the impression that it was the old railway bridge down by the strawberry beds. i could be wrong though.

It's beside Palmerstown - dunno if it's called the strawberry beds, could be.

hi, yes that area west of dublin is known as the strawberry beds, no it not the bridge scene, that scene was filmed on the river blackwater near fermoy co cork.

Are you sure the bridge scenes were filmed near Fermoy in Cork? I always thought that it was a railway bridge just outside of Waterford.

NO I AM NOT SURE. BUT I READ IT SOMEWHERE ON A BLUE MAX WEBSITE . YES I THOUGHT IT WAS NEAR WATERFORD TOO...SO WE WILL KEEP LOOKING 40 YEARS ON.

I have been down to the bridge and viewed the landscape with my own eyes; local people say it is Palmerstown's only claim to fame.

It is pretty definitive that this is the place; but just to be safe next time I am there I will check it again.

hi, no .i still think the bridge is on the blackwater river in formoy co cork. formoy is very close to co waterford too..

In todays Irish Examiner Property Section the actual Bridge in the grounds of Ilecash House on the River Blackwater is mentioned , the Biplane flew about 30 times in between its arches for various takes . The House is for sale for Euro 4 million !

HI. GLAD TO REPORT THAT OVER 75 PEOPLE HAVE ASKED TO SEE MY PHOTOS. HOW COOL IS THAT.I TOLD MARRI IN FLORIDA THAT I HAD 100 CALLS BUT CHECKING BACK IT IS ABOUT 75 NOW.

Hi to all. I have just read local news paper in Leixlip co kildare and i see that Derek Piggott, the chief stunt pilot from the blue max made a return to the location of one of his scenes recently. the owner of Weston airport Jim Mansfiel flew Derek to Fermoy to view the BRIDGE .In 1965 Derek flew a german fokker triplane 32 times under the bridge to make the best air movie ever. tony maher.

hi, rte1 tv ,Nationwide . did an interview tonight with derek piggott. if you go online to rte1.ie ,you might get to see it again. Nationwide 7pm monday 13/oct.

The bridge is at Fermoy, Cork. Look on Google Earth, It's just east of the town.
