It's a great pity that the editor/camera operator of this film....


....didn't have a better knowledge of WW1 aircraft.
Considering the amount of authentic looking DVIIs, Pfalzes and DR1s that this film had to play with, it never fails to frustrate me how much screen time is wrongly allocated to the DH Tiger Moths and Stampe biplanes!
For example, look at that scene when Stachel first arrives at the airfield and the patrol comes in- of all the aircraft that come in, the one that the cameraman chooses to zoom into first is.... a Tiger Moth!!!!
I remember this really annoying me when I saw it for the first time as a 10 year old.
Otherwise, it's the greatest air war epic of all time.
