Impression on a young kid

My Dad took me to the movies in Cleveland to see "The Blue Max" back in 1965. I was eleven at the time. It is so vivid that I can remember the whole experience. That magical something which evokes the urge to fly is beautifully captured in this film.

Obviously, something happened to me...I'm now an airline captain, flying the A320 Airbus, with 20 years experience and 14,000 hours.

My dad is a lawyer, still hoping I'll go to law school.

Oh well....

JTS: Thanks for your remarks. Yeah, it's still one of my favorites. It was shot in Ireland which made for the beautiful scenes. Having majored in History, the political aspect to lower-class Stachel joining the squadron of champagne swilling aristocrats is appreciated. And, Ursala, with her gravity defying towel covering her assets, makes for one of my all time favorites.

It is a long movie, but then WWI was long, too.

Can't say for sure...didn't serve. But it looks like death comes quick for any military pilot of all eras, computers or not. Fate is the hunter...to use the phrase.

I read about this pilot who almost died in an airshow.

In the mid-1960's, you probably went to a single-screen theater. That made for a vivid viewing experience!
