RIP Karl Michael Vogler

The actor who played Stachels superior Colonel Heidemann died in June.

Internationally he will be most remembered for "The Blue Max", "Patton" and playing Gert Fröbes sidekick in "Those magnificent men..."

Great actor. Really enjoyed his work. He could do a serious dramatic part or comedy. Thanks for letting us know.

Vogler was in that movie with young Robert Redford, "Downhill Racer."

Remember ?

He was the German sports equipment guy Machet who was talking to Redford across the crowded cafe table, "...I vant you to try my skis." Meanwhile, Redford is locked in on his nubile, young "assistant" Miss Stahl and her cleavage, played by that vixen Camilla Sparv. Vavoom !

He was terrific in this.

And it was really cool to see him in that first scene with James Mason. When Mason came into the room, I realized they had BOTH played Rommel ... and I added a "trivia" item about that to the IMDb.

Pity. He was the best character and probably the best actor in the film IMHO.

Yes, I do. I saw THAT movie in a theater.
Karl Michael Vogler was also played a German flyer in Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines.
