Possible goof?

Soon after the start of the film when Stachel climbs on board the truck with the other pilots to go to their quarters, you can hear the pilots singing a song that starts off with "There was a girl from Poland...".

Um, Poland had no existed as a country since the Third Partition in 1795 and it did not exist again until after WWI. Maybe this song they were singing pre-dated 1795?

This doesn't affect your point, but the actual lyrics were:
"There was a town in Poland, and there a girl we found..."
...

Even if Poland was not a country at that time, could the name "Poland" have referred to a geographical area?

You got your mind right, Luke?

Poland may not have been a country, but it was definitely a place. The song dates from 1896.
