I know he wasn't theirs, but both Fonda and Woodward are white and blue-eyed and their kid would no doubt be the same. Yet they got some mixed-race carnival kid to pose as their son. Wouldn't that raise suspicion amongst the other players?
lol.... what are you talking about "mixed race?"... the only carnival kid in this conversation is you...Jean-Michel Michenaud was of french decent and how the hell could you tell the color of his eyes in a black and white movie...lol... idiot
Black and white movie? Holy crap, you should run, don't walk, to the nearest optometrist and get your eyes checked pronto. This movie was in living color, my friend.
I asked the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.
And both Fonda and Woodward look very "WASP-Y" in appearance while the kid looks swarthy and Mediterranean in appearance. Really bizarre casting, as there is no way they could pass that kid off as their own unless by adoption.
Yes, they were in the middle of the game of the year, what did they care for other people's kids? It's possible to be aware of a person without actually noticing anything about them. I imagine if they had been called on it, there would have been some plausible explanation, previous marriage for one of the pair, or a grandparent was darker. More importantly, they needed a young, smart kid, who could act reasonably well, and understand the situation well enough to be trusted with a dangerous secret. Also, I think he might have been chosen by the producers to subtly remind viewers that this was nottheirkid, that they were not some family of crooks, but a bunch of independent contractors.
Jesus, some people will complain about everything. So the boy had different colored eyes than his "parents"? Wow, you'd think a table full of Wild West gamblers would have the knowledge of recessive genes and phenotypes to realize they were being conned. Huge plothole, 0/10 for the movie.
