A joy!
Watching this right now.
I watched this film as a child in the 80's as well as the series and it was great for that age but now watching this I can appreciate all the other things they were trying to do as a visual experiment.
I think people forget this was a total product of it's time. Wacky and silly seemed to be popular (look at Casino Royale) and even the disclaimer at the start of the film that says "For lovers of the ridiculous and the bizarre" and that's exactly what it is.
The bright colours, the slanted camera angles, the OTT devices and situations played straight by West and some really animated villains make this a joy and I find it very, very hard not to really love this film.
Seriously, don't look at it as a Batman film because it's not. Look at it as an animated painting or piece of art from that era that features the characters from Batman and it works well.
