I Sky plussed it and watched it tonight. As an animal lover it is a hard film to watch with the incessant torment and cruelty inflicted. It has a plot with little cohesion, characters that you cannot have any empathy for, offers no message of hope and no signs of redemption for the cruelty imposed but it is a completely captivating piece of film-making because of it. Beautifully shot with a stunning piece of incidental music in Schubert's Piano Sonata no 20 which I think is one of the primary reasons that it is so affecting. I would definitely recommend it for fans of French Cinema which at it's best is difficult to surpass.
