Wrong Title?

In the US, this movie was released as "Arrivederci, Baby!" I recall it being advertised that way, with that title.

And the poster here uses that title.

Drop Dead Darling? I never heard this movie given that title.

What gives?

PS. I recall this movie teaching me that word: "Arrivederci!" What a cool way to say goodbye (just this side of 'Adios, Amigo!").

Of course, in this movie, "Arrivederci" means death. Tony Curtis seems to have been getting ready for The Boston Strangler part later.

Maybe the word was too hard for people to pronounce...

It was OK.

I barely remember it, it was part of a large contingent of "European entertainment films" that helped bolster the careers of fading American stars like Tony Curtis by pairing them with European stars(here, gorgeous women) in European locales, with European funding.

I liked thrillers and I recall that seeing Tony bump off a wife or two en route to meeting his match with a murderous new bride was...interestingly perverse.

I can't remember if Tony paid the price for his murders or not. In 1967, they were starting to let killers get away with their crimes on screen.

Its another vague memory, but the giant chess piece figures in the poster were devices used by one of the spouses to try to kill the other -- the figures moved like robots and had mallets and hatchets with which to attack victims.

Hey, I just reviewed a movie based on almost no recollection of the plot or ending at all. That was just a review of a vague memory and how I felt at the time.

I do remember liking ALL those hot European women who ended up in movies like these if they weren't in Bond movies...

PS. I think Tony killed Zsa Zsa Gabor in this one. Zsa Zsa...there's a name.
