shareI don't know where you read that, so I don't know what it said specifically, but you may have misunderstood. That he "served in Okinawa" doesn't necessarily mean that he was there for the WWII battle; he may have been stationed there in the '50s or something.
But of course there's another possibility. He wouldn't be the first actor who got caught using a, shall we say, "optimistic" birth date.
Maybe he served in an upcoming episode for season 3 before the plug got pulled?
