The Alamo episode

I can't believe that Davy Crockett didn't make a single appearance throughout that entire episode! Why do you suppose that was?

reply

Actually, he made two appearances, but you probably blinked and missed them. Early on, one of the characters mentions that Crockett had been killed the day before, which would explain why he didn't have a "real" appearance. But in the final battle, you do get two glimpses of the man in the coonskin cap.

Check out the "Goofs" section for this episode for details.

reply

Everybody knows that Crockett didn't get killed until the final climactic battle and I must not have been very observant but I didn't notice anybody in a coonskin cap during that entire sequence.

reply

The man with the Coonskin cap is Davy Crockett, sort of. You see several clips of stock footage from "The Last Command" with Arthur Hunnicut As D.C. But since they mention Crockett dying the night before, it can't be Crockett, Silly, huh?

reply

Interesting you should mention Arthur Hunnicut because of all the actors that portrayed Davy Crockett he probably bears the closest resemblance to the real McCoy.

reply

John Wayne portrayed Davy Crockett in The Alamo.

Arthur Hunnicutt,as already mentioned was DC in The Last Command.

Both appeared together in El Dorado.

reply

Yes, I was aware of all that.

reply

The Alamo exterior set seen in this episode appears to be the Organian Village from the Star Trek episode "Errand of Mercy."

The set was known as the Arabian Village & was a part of Desilu's 40 Acre back lot.

It's not well known that there was a scientist at the Alamo. He built a time machine. Davy Crockett left with that scientist on a trip through time. That's why the others claimed Davy had been killed. They didn't want anyone to know about time travel.

The time trip met a tragic end. The scientist didn't account for paradox equations when he took them back to a time when the coon that became Davy's coon skin hat was still alive. The hat and coon touched. There was a terrible explosion. Davy, the coon, and the scientist were all killed.

reply

What happened to the machine?

reply

How would anyone know? They all died. :)

reply

Was the time machine actually a phone booth, and the 2 scientist named Bill and Ted?
