Action!

Just watched this a couple of nights ago. Very interesting seeing Cinnamon in the tape scene so I wasn't sure how that'd come off. But I thought it was believable. I thought it was perfectly fine without Dan in the mission. I like Dan but there's a lot of episodes in season 1 that doesn't have the whole team anyways.
Once again in typical Rollin fashion he dons the uniform and steps right in and assumes any position, of authority or otherwise and is believable. I like that bit with the elevator where they had to time it where Willy gets right in at the last minute with the guy that Rollin was posing as and knocks him out. Also interesting how there was a lot of emphasis in the episode about Barney finding the the pipe to cause the flood in the film room with Cinnamon guiding him along the way. And of course she just charmed her way right into that Miklo guy's graces and set everything in motion. Lots of suspense in the episode with Barney getting captured and all, and the other guy having to fight off the security guys on his own with Willy showing up to save the day at the last second. Nice ending with Rollin turning to the guy with a smile while the guy realized he'd be duped but good. Cinna_mini_me I remember you mentioned this episode. I thought it was very good episode. Next episode "the Train"

As I watched this over and over again through the years, I had a lot of questions. I loved the tape scene where it was kind of "girlied" up for Cinnamon. A hair salon? An unavailable beautician as the key code leading to the tape scene. Great stuff!

Yes, Rollin assumed Dan's leadership role during the mission, so why didn't he go get the taped instructions? Reality check! Bain was a series regular, and next in the credits after Steven Hill. Landau was still appearing as a guest star. More scenes, more lines for the regular cast member?

Then ... it was easier for Landau to be given Hill's lines after the latter was barred from this set, than to ascribe them to Bain. Still a paradox, and still one of my favorite episodes! Great review, jayhn1111.

I thought J.D. Cannon as the "villain of the piece" was an interesting bit of casting. I always remember him as McCloud's blustering boss. To see him doing the same, with an eastern European accent was ... different.

That's right I hadn't even thought about the fact that Landau was a guest star! Regardless of the whole controversy surrounding it, it ended up being a tremendous episode. I am going to miss seeing Steven Hill since I'm almost at the end of the season, but Peter Graves was the man.

What is fascinating to me about this episode, I never saw it during its original network run on CBS or during its re-run season. It wasn't until after the series was cancelled and went into syndication around 1974.

Locally, it was running back to back with Star Trek TOS, also in syndication at the time... both five days a week!! It sure made me sit up and take notice when Cinnamon was receiving the taped instructions! A refreshing surprise! I never knew about all the behind-the-scenes melodrama with Steven Hill until years later, so this episode was a minor puzzle when I first saw it.

Yeah if it wasn't for you guys talking about it on this board a few times over the years I probably never would've known myself, being that I never read that book or read about any of the behind the scenes stuff. That's a heck of a lineup by the way. Star trek TOS and MI. I"m a huge fan of Star trek TOS. When I think about what my favorite show is it's those 2 that always come to my mind.

I noticed that Tom Troupe, who played the great star IMF agent in that episode, was the brother of Bobby "Route 66", and a regular cast member on the tv series, "Emergency"

Good Luck, Miss Carter

I always appreciated when Cinnamon acted cutesy.
The young actress looking for her moment and, is seems, not above being seduced by the producer if it will get her the part. 😁
Loved when he invited her to dinner and she gave him that "oh gosh" act.

I really liked this episode, including all the cast except for Dan. It shows they work as a great unit even if their "leader" is out for and episode. Of course, I always appreciated that Dan was someone who could delegate whereas Jim Phelps had to be there or every mission.

It's one of the better ones from the first season, but the absence of Briggs creates a weak spot. Cinnamon gets the mission parameters--but it's Rollin who comes up with the plan. Why would he have gotten the parameters secondhand from Cinnamon instead of hearing them himself--or, perish forbid, having *HER* plan the mission?

When NBC saw the first pilot for Star Trek, one of the things they didn't like was the idea of a female first officer. They thought the public wouldn't go for it.

Maybe that's why although Cinnamon retrieved the mission assignment, Rollin did the planning.
