Basically, it's Gilligan and the Skipper in prehistoric times!

Just saw this on Antenna TV this afternoon. Not impressed. I don't really see much difference between this and Gilligan's Island, just different settings and actors.

The only similarity to Gilligan I saw was being stranded in an unknown place, and that was just two characters, the others are from there. And none of the characters reminded me of the Skipper and Gilligan at all.

Dusty's Trail was much closer to the Gilligan's format. It was about a wagon and a stagecoach that got seperated from the rest of the wagon train. It had Dusty, the clumsy trailhand (Gilligan (again played by Bob Denver)), Callahan the trail boss (Skipper), the rich man and his wife (the Howells), Lulu the saloon girl (Ginger), Betsy, the young innocent girl(Mary Ann), and Andy, the smart guy who everyone turns to think of a way to get them out of tight squeezes(The Professor). Except on Dusty's Trail they were all traveling west in a wagon train and not stranded on an island, but they were still all together in unknown territory.

Look for Dusty's Trail, or Wackiest Wagon in the West, if you really want to see a Gilligan's Island clone, also from Sherwood Schwartz.

It does make you wonder how the Brady Bunch came about without 'and the rest' taking over in one way or another, tho Jim Backus and Natalie Schafer managed guest appearances (Backus, twice).

While the astronauts can be Gilligan and Skipper, it should be interesting to see if cave people don't end up turning into "millionaire, and his wife, the movie star, the professor and Maryann".

Especially when they venture back to the present.

I guess the cave boy will be tapping Kurt Russell's Jungle Boy appearance.

They use the same background music as Gilkigan's Island. Sherwood Schwartz must have squeezed every last note out of that music.

Yeah it reminds me a lot of Gilligan's Island. Same music even! And that one astronaut ,I think his name is Hector? His voice sounds just like Gilligan's!
