Does anyone remember the 2 part Batman episode that they fought the GH and Kato? The dynamic duo got whipped.
Does anyone know how I can get hold of this episode?
VHS or DVD

well i remember this episode and from what i remember,it was originally supposed to be that the green hornet was the arch enemy of batman and of course britt reid and bruce wayne did not know they were batman or green hornet. they did have a couple of fights together, but at the end when the real villians came in,green hornet told kato "batman and robin can handle it from here. let's go" so they left. then after batman and robin defeated the villians, commisioner gordon was concerned about green hornet escaping but batman told him he was a superhero like him and commissioner gordon was surprised. so batman and robin never really lost. i heard from my brother a story about that episode though. he said originally the script read that robin was to defeat kato during their fight, but bruce lee was not happy,so they rewrote it. anyway,i do not know how to get a hold of this. i personally wish batman and green hornet wereto rent on home video.

Yes, and there were also two other episodes featuring the GH.
One was a cameo appearance by GH .. the usual head out the window as Batman and Robin scale a building flat-footed. GH said he was on an assignment for the Sentinel.
The other was when Bruce started to watch an episode of GH on television.
I remember the GH window cameo in "The Spell of Tut", but I didn't know about the other cameo - do you know which episode that occurs in?
Batman appears in similar fashion in two GH episodes: "Secret of the Sally Bell" and "Ace in the Hole" include scenes where people are watching Batman on TV.
I happen to have taped the 2-part Batman episode with Green Hornet in the 80s. It's a great episode to watch, and to my knowledge the only video relic representing the great Green Hornet TV show. The 2-part episode was an obvious attempt to boost ratings for the Green Hornet show. They broadcast Part 1 on Wednesday night, Part 2 on Thursday night, and then the Green Hornet on Friday night. What a week that was. Friday night shows aimed at boomers always bombed because we were all out on Friday night (usually scout stuff).
Everyone is anxious to get the Batman TV series out on DVD. As usual, it is being delayed for legal reasons. Warner owns Batman but Fox owns the TV series.
I do not recall the Green Hornet cameos but have no doubt they were there.
The Batman TV show was a work of genius, combining camp with satire, aiming at two audiences, children and adult.
This is a great story told by Van Williams (The Green Hornet). When Bruce Lee found out that the original script called for Kato to lose to Robin, he was furious, shouting "No-one is going to believe Robin beat Kato" as he left the studio lot. Van had later called him to explain that the writers decided on a draw, to be fair to both shows. Bruce told Van he was going to play a practical joke on Burt Ward, as Burt was a Blackbelt and was always bragging about what a great fighter he was. So, the next day when they prepared to shoot the fight scene, Bruce came on the set very grumpy, and put the word around he was going to beat the snot out of Burt. Apparently Burt heard about this and became very worried. Bruce walked around the set and just sneered at Burt most of the day. When it came time to shoot the fight, Bruce closed in on Burt with a flurry of punches and had Burt running away from Bruce flapping his arms screaming "Bruce, this only television, take it easy!" One of the cameramen hollered out "The black panther and the screaming yellow chicken!". Everyone broke out laughing, and Bruce let Burt in on the joke. One of the best Hollywood stories ever!
shareWhile the two did fight, the director of the show deliberately made it a draw, so that the fans of either Batman or the Green Hornet would not be upset. In fact, at the end of the show, Batman speculates that the Green Hornet may be a crimefighter, although no one else believes that.
shareGoto www.vintagedvds.net and click on superheros. You can supposedly get the entire series + the two Batman episodes for $60 on DVD. I'm guessing someone copied 'em off TV from VHS to DVD, so the quality probably sux, but there you go... You can e-mail me directly at [email protected] --Tracy
