I love how defenders of the Rogen movie say

that if the film was done seriosuly it would just be seen as a batman rip off. so instead we get a rich, drunken, manchild, living a selfish hedonisitic life, who has a lot of issues with his dead, domineering father (who founded the business that he inherits), who suffers a personal tragedy, and realizes how empty his life is, and begins fighting evil(which has wormed its way into the heart of the business that he controls) under a masked identity, with the help of advanced technology, all the while being comically irreverent. wow...thats what you get when you ask for originallity from a pot smoking, one trick pony, whose seen iron man one too many times.

Completely agree...the Batman TV series was done 'campy' and was made into serious movies. The Green Hornet, which started on radio, was a serious crime fighting series which carried over to TV in the same way. And now we have to make it 'campy' as a movie? Completely ruins the Green Hornet. And at the very least they could have picked better actors for the movie...come on...Van Williams = gorgeous ....Rogan = dork.

Another remake of sorts ruined.

I agreed Hollywood still don't realized how to make a very good superhero movie not half but all of them very good.

reply

Hey, atleast we got another bad-ass KATO!

ok so Chou isnt as bad ass as Lee, but seriously....NO ONE IS AS BAD ASS as BRUCE LEE! I think he did an adequate job. As for Rogan, he was no Green Hornet, but he still cracked me up. I see it more of a Kato Spin-off movie/Spoof.

*beep* Censorship.

reply

That's how I see it too as a Kato spinoff. Rogen=dorky no gorgeous Green Hornet.

I am watching the original on syfy right now, Williams is gorgeous. Rogen NOT equal to green hornet.

IMO, the only really good thing about the new Rogen version, is the fact that it has brought the "old" Hornet episodes and media out of the storage and back into mainstream. I like Rogen, but not in this role.

reply

Agreed, herdalum. Rogen is not good in this role at all but Chou really kicks arse as Kato!!
Go Kato!!

I am just not a fan of Seth Rogen. The only film I have found him to be tolerable in was Knocked Up, but even that I don't care to sit through again. I am just not a fan of the guy and would have preferred someone else star in a re-imagining of The Green Hornet. It would have been sort of neat to see The Green Hornet give a big comic book treatment like Dick Tracy got way back in 1990. Oh well.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

Hey Troll,

When writing your blogs, there's no need to mention shallow comments, we just take it for granted as we read your mundane, angry and unwitty comments. I take it you are a glass mostly empty kind of dude.

OH yes ... Seth Rogen fans ... first they claim that Seth Rogen can be a dramatic actor despite that he never had done drama and wasn't even trying to do so, then they deny the authenticity of ACTUAL FOOTAGE from the film, stating crap like "it's out of context" and "it's not real because it's not finished" but ... then when the official trailer proves it's a comedy they say, "Well, that's a good idea."

WHERE ARE THEY NOW ?!?!?!

NOW they are saying "Well, it made money worldwide so where's the sequel?" ignoring the fact that GHINO BOMBED and rightly so!

Guess what? $23 million shy of breaking even domestically ... THAT'S a BOMB!

Meanwhile the Green Hornet television show staring Van Williams continues to win fans over. People who see it say "The movie was terrible... OMG!!! the Green Hornet series would have made a GREAT movie!" Green Hornet fans say, "Yes, we know ..."
