Help with the kids' last names, please

I watched this show every week growing up and then daily when it was in reruns in daytime during the summer (CBS used to do this with previous seasons). Why on IMDB are the children listed as having the last name of "Patterson-Davis"?? On the show they were always called by the last name of "Davis". This made sense--it was explained that they were the orphaned children of Bill Davis' brother, Bob Davis.
Where does this "Patterson" name come from?
Also, wasn't Cissy's real name Catherine and Buffy's real name Elizabeth?

Patterson was thier mother Mary Davis' madien name

That was a GLARING mistake in a episode (I foregot which one it was) Mr French comes across a family he was in service for back in Great Britain where on holiday in the United States it was THIER children who were named Elizabeth and Johnathan. We never learned Buffy and Jody's real name. But YES, we did learn Cissy's name and it WAS Catherine

I thought in the episode where Buffy goes home after school with Lana, the girl whose mom leaves her alone a lot, that Buffy told her that her real name was Ava. And Lana's mom tells them that she likes the name Ava better (presumably because it is a movie star name and she is partial to those since she named her daughter after Lana Turner).

actually, Lana gave the name to Buffy to be more grown up since in that episode Buffy was tired of being treated like a baby. So, Buffy was just trying the name Ava on

Strange to say, my friend's children's names are Elisabeth and Jonathan. What are the odds?
