I remember watching this in the sixties on German TV. Yale Summers was so handsome, I had a crush on him :).
In each new episode I was wondering if he and Paula Tracy would have a happy end.
All off a sudden after episode 74 he stopped making "Daktari".
Does anybody know why? After all there were 89 episodes and his filmography doesn't list any other films or TV productions before the following year.
Maybe he got injured by one of the animals?
I'm only guessing but I think Yale, who turned 35 in 1968, was sick of being treated like a juvenile because of his secondary role and someone who just cleaned up Clarence and Judy's poo. The production company was quite happy and brought in 7-year-old Erin Moran ("Happy Days") to compete with "My Three Sons", "The Brady Bunch", Corey on "Julia" (Diahann Carroll), the kids in "The Brian Keith Show", "To Rome With Love" and the kid in "The Courtship of Eddie's Father" -- it was a real kid time in television.
