Was Alain Delon's dialogue dubbed?

At first I thought, no he isn't dubbed. But now that I have watched many more films of Alain's, particularly the ones in the new box set for him, I do think he was dubbed. Either that or he deliberately changed the timbre of his voice for the character.

shareI don't think he was dubbed either because although he's playing Italian he had a French accent. If they were to dub him, I imagine they'd get an Italian actor.

I have seen early clips of Delon speaking English and he is perfectly understandable, and his English only improves over the years. I certainly could not begin to have a conversation or memorize lines in French or Italian.
I have read this comment about Delon never speaking decent English and I have neither seen nor heard any evidence of it.
I would like to find a copy of The Leopard that is not dubbed and has English subtitles. Any ideas?
