anyone know where I can get the lyrics to the title song?
Anyone knows?
sharetruly! I've been looking for forever, no one seems to have them...*shrug*
sharecan't u just listen to the song in the movie and write them down?
shareHaven't seen the movie in years (I ordered it, but the disc was cracked and I'm waiting on a replacement), but I do have the soundtrack. The version of the song from the movie is sung by Bobby Darin, but his isn't on the album. There's two different versions on the LP, one by jazz singer Louis Prima, one by "Route 66" singer Bobby Troup -- each has different verses. Below are the lyrics from those... if there's different lyrics to Darin's version, I'll update this when the DVD arrives. But first, here's mp3's of the two LP versions:

While the city sleeps
Every night, he creeps
Just surveyin' his domain
He roams around
Like he owns the town
He's the king
He makes that plain
He knows every trick
Doesn't miss a lick
When it comes to keepin' fat
Some city slicker
No one is quicker than
That darn cat!
Every nook and cranny and garbage can
He inspects so thoroughly
When he's on his rounds
Nothing's out of bounds
To his curiosity
He can smile and purr
At a pretty her
'Til she don't know where she's at
Nose like a Geiger
Oh, what a tiger is
That darn cat!
LOUIS PRIMA VERSION:
When the pickin's lean
And he makes a scene
Where he knows he's got some pull
This conniving feline
Just makes a b-line
To where the park is full
Oh, he's no beginner
At scrounging dinner
It's an art he's got down pat
Smooth operator
With a way with the waiter
That darn cat!
Some city slicker
No one is quicker than
That darn cat!
Nose like a Geiger
Oh what a tiger is
That darn cat!
BOBBY TROUP VERSION:
He's a sly old codger, an artful dodger
A scrounger unsurpassed
A ball of fire, a nine live wire
Who just can't be outclassed
Yeah, this midnight rover
He lives in clover
It's an art he's got down pat
I never was a greater
Smooth operator than
That darn cat!
Now our cat's been paid
Every accolade
And he's earned all his acclaim
In a blaze of glory
He ends our story
In the feline hall of fame
But the way life goes
In a year, who knows
From the family he begat
You may wind up with one of
Maybe the son of
That darn cat!
That darn cat!
So now you've heard the tale I tell
That's t-a-l-e, not t-a-i-l
I'm talkin' 'bout the tale of that darn cat!
