Is it just me, or...

...did anybody else totally dislike the 1997 remake of That Darn Cat? I rented it from the video store shortly after it was released, excited and then very disappointed. I probably only watched about the first twenty minutes of it, then turned it off in disgust. Christina Ricci was a terrible choice for the lead role. And they should have used a better looking cat than the one they did. I REALLY wish it would have been another Siamese just like the original D.C. It seems that almost all remakes are never as good as the originals, with the exception of The Parent Trap. I thought that one was just as good as the original. The same plot basically about separated indentical twins meeting at summer camp, then switching homes in hope of reuniting their parents, but then there's a gold digger in the way wanting to marry the daddy. I was well written with most of the same situations with a modern twist.

Who do you think would have been good actors/actresses for those roles back in 1997? I think Reese Witherspoon would have made a great Patti. She was in her early 20's then but could have passed for a cute, adventureous teenaged girl. I also think Jennifer Aniston would have made a good Ingrid, a glamourous older sister. Can't think of anything alse right now cuz it's late at night and I'm really tired.

No, you're not the only one who dislike the Remakes of Disney. Me too. The Disney movies in 1950- late 70s have so much more charme.

Even the TV Remake of "Herbie" or the remake with Lindsay Lohan (incl. her Parent Trap and Freaky Friday) are terrible. No one of this movie has charme.

I also disliked "That Darn Cat!" Remake.

With the "Herbie"-Remake I had my problem with those CGI effects and fast editing/Video-Clip look-a-like.

I saw the remake in theatres when it came out, and I was really little at the time. I think I enjoyed it for what it was, but I've never had a desire to see it since. The original is much better.

I did, however, enjoy the remakes of The Parent Trap and Freaky Friday just as much as the originals.

What I saw of the remake was horrible. I did enjoy Freaky Friday and The Parent Trap remakes, but I couldn't handle this one and I didn't even bother with Herbie. Herbie has such a special place in my heart, and I didn't want to see it messed up.

I'm cool, you're cool, we're cool, thank you, good night!-My Science Project

The remake should never have happened.
