Star Trek, Alien, etc., owe a lot to such films.

A very good movie which can't be judged by its English Title.

Like Forbidden Planet, You can see how it really influenced other films and TV shows.

People shouldn't judge a film without considering the context of the times.

I'm no expert, but supposedly Mario Bava also made the first slasher(giallo)film-1963's The Girl Who Knew Too Much. Also loved his 1968 film Danger: Diabolik. Once in a blue moon, there IS something new under the sun.

I think, when it comes to slasher movies, there have to be two bows:
Psycho (1960)
Peeping Tom (1960)

However, Bava did add his own style and a lot more blood to that budding genre.

(If we want to go really far back, there are those early films about Jack the Ripper, plus the two 1920s movies about Sweeney Todd.)
