Did anyone notice the similarities...

...to the suits of Planet of the Vampires and the suits of the X-Men movies? Tsearcy mentions it (thank you for noticing) and for 1965, it is truely amazing. I am convinced Brian Singer was somehow inspired to use these designs as maybe an homage to the great Bava. What do you folks think?

Good Point.. Plus the premise might have been "borrorwed" a bit by John Carpenter for Ghost of Mars. Its like a mix of Ghost of Mars and Assualt on Precinct 13.

Alien did kind of borrow the plot of this one.

Maybe so, but this movie also seems to borrow a bit from the "Body Snatchers" premise.

Actually, it's not so much "Body Snatchers", which involves deleting the original after the copy forms. It's somewhat closer to this earlier film:

Invisible Invaders (1959)
IMDb synopsis:
Aliens, contacting scientist Adam Penner, inform him that they have been on the moon for twenty thousand years, undetected due to their invisibility, and have now decided to annihilate humanity unless all the nations of earth surrender immediately. Sequestered in an impregnable laboratory trying to find the aliens' weakness, Penner, his daughter, a no-nonsense army major and a squeamish scientist are attacked from outside by the aliens, who have occupied the bodies of the recently deceased.

Except for the flesh-eating part (which does not go with the zombie legend but does with ghouls), George Romero could have borrowed from this very low-budget Fifties movie. It does have creepy moments, as when you see the sliding footfalls of the invisible aliens in the dust.

Actually it's very close to Body Snatchers in where the old form is now replaced by an evolved being. But they replace the soul or personality instead of the entire husk.

And everyone in this thread is right on with what I thought watching this. Especially the X-men costumes comment. They are very close in design which is so cool.

Part of the reason for tha simmilarities of look is that theres only so much you can do with black full body leather suits without looking like a S&M costume... aheh. I used to work with a costume maker and that was her statement on black leather with red, yellow or orange highlights.

The simmilarities are only superficial really once you look them over.

Really nice designs though all around for both films.

They reminded me of the costume in Kick-Ass!
