If they Remade/Updated Flint, who would you want to Play Him?

I'd love to see a contemporized remake of Flint, and I would want Bruce Campbell(http://imdb.com/name/nm0132257/) to play the lead role of Flint.

Owen Wilson.

None other than him could get away with that self-consious sly sense of humour. And that nose!

owen is god! in comedy and his self confidence is unbearable

This is YOUR LIFE and it is ending one minute at a time!

Another vote for Bruce "The God" Campbell

Owen Wilson would be good, but, honestly, I'd have to say Brad Pitt fits the Flint bill to the tee. This polyglot role is suited to the depth of his characterization ability. It wouldn't and shouldn't be a forward comedy. It would just be naturally funny in parts, which BP does emminently well. A good director would be Quentin Tarantino. He always seems to be itching to direct a real cultivated superspy character.

Anyone but Jude Law

Pass it on.

I'd vote for Ryan Reynolds. He can be every bit as much a likably obnoxious know-it-all as Coburn... not to mention raunchier.

Personally, I'd like to see Pierce Brosnan play the part. I really don't see any other well known actor as Flint.

Sorry to say both PB and Bruce are a bit old for the part

Owens comedy is based on the fact that he is so confident but in actuality is an incompetent buffoon, Campbell in Evil Dead and Army of Darkness (his best work although Bubba Ho-Tep and Briscoe County Jr. are both good!) is a guy who is muddling his way through by sheer force of will, not because of any inherent skill. Reynolds is funny because of his machine gun mouth and ridiculous sense of humor. All three are good, none of them are Flint...

Coburn portrayed Flint as a cocky, graceful, genius playboy who knew just how good he actually was and was comfortable with it. He was funny because damnit, if he said he could kick your ass while grinning like the cheshire cat, he could damn well do it. All while composing a ballet, formulating a knockout gas, and picturing everything he was going to do to his five live-in girlfriends when he got home!

All while he was karate chopping his way through you!!!

No current actor comes to mind who could portray the kind of character Coburn was so comfortable playing.

Derek Flint needs to be brought back to the big screen, but as serious as the new Bourne or Bond films. All the eliments are there and they can rip both franchises off with ease, everybody else does. Pitt would be a good choice, Ryan Reynolds another. Without thinking too much about it there are dozens of American actors who could pull if off, then again they try to bring back Dirk Pitt with Matt McConaughey and they ruined it by making it a comedy. Pitt, like Bond was a cold war specialist, not a comic. They would have to do it right to get it right at the box office. And while we are on the subject, remake Matt Helm too..I am sure there is a Dean Martin type out there and let's face it they are remaking everthing these days. You can bet in a time they will redo Terminator, Rocky, Rambo etc. Watch this space.

reply

Nah.... No remakes.

The only reason the Bond franchise has gone as long as it has is the periodic entries have allowed the character to evolve with the times. I will always consider Connery to be the true Bond, but I appreciate the half dozen other gents who have inherited the role and made it their own.

To bring out a new Flint forty years later would be a catastrophe. Four words and I need not analyze further: Steve Martin Inspector Clouseau.

'nuff said.

Not one of my usual choices...but I reckon George Clooney might just be able to do it. Still, I don't really see the point...there is only ONE Flint after all!
