Galaxy Insignia Patches Used Eleswhere at 20th-Fox

The patches worn by Galaxy personnel were reused (turned on the side) in an episode of "The Time Tunnel" called "One Way to the Moon", and appear on the astronaunts in the "Lost in Space" episode, "Flight into the Future". But the most obvious re-use of these patches were in "Land of the Giants", where they were the flight insignia worn by the crew of the Spindrift. Talk about thrifty!

I'm somewhat frightened someone figured that out.

I love this site for that very reason -- no question goes unanswered.

Irwin Allen (Lost in Space, Land of the Giants, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea) was a well known prop-swiper, including the computer from the Tracy/Hepburn film Desk Set that finds its way into the control room of the Sea View (Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea), a whale's insides in Voyage originally made for the sci-fi classic Fantstic Voyage, and (taking from himself) a Lost in Space monster costume that shows up wrestling a Sea View model.

They used to push sets from show to show to use them over and over. All Irwin Allen shows had recycled props. Some computers on Lost In Space were on wheels and you could see them. They pushed them over to Time Tunnel. Also the set backgrounds were sometimes black so they didn't need set dressing behind the props.
