Poison Dart

So upon watching this movie a couple of times, I still can not seem to figure out the point in Hans Gruber placing the poison dart in the restaurant stage curtain, having Gilla change into her disguise of the harpist, and then her taking it out of the curtain while Hans stays in the exact same position as before she left to change. Why couldn't he have directly given her the dart after she changed??? Did anyone else wonder this???

Exposition... it's for the sake of telling the audience this is something very important. As far as the plot goes... no, it doesn't make sense at all. :)

It does make sense if you consider that the very deadly poison on the tip of the dart is something you don't want touching your skin. Gruber doesn't want to hand it to Gila directly, because one of them would have to touch the sharp end.

My question is why do they go through the rigamarole of abducting the harpist on stage and counting on no one noticing, rather than simply shooting the dart from behind the curtain where they can't be observed?

Not really no because the way Gruber places it and Glie retrieves it, she's a fraction of an inch from poking herself with it.

As for the abduction... style my friend, style. Why use something as boring as a blow-dart. :)
