There are a lot of unique aspects to this movie:
It's very hard to find.
It's rarely ever played on television.
The case could be made that it is the first jazz music video.
Practically every person in the movie is now dead except for Beatty and his leading lady.
It contains probably the first gay-related scene when Castle falls on Beatty.(yuck)
I haven't seen it, can you elaborate on how a movie can be a 'jazz music video'? That sounds interesting. PS I hated Night Moves, but loved The Chase and Missouri Breaks (two of Brando's most unique, along with his One Eyed Jacks), I say.
shareThe jazz music is by Stan Getz. Here is the link:

...Mickey One is Arthur Penn's other masterpiece, Bonnie & Clyde being the other. Why this hasn't been released on DVD probably has to have to do with ownership rights or something. I was lucky enough to set a timed recording of this when it aired in the middle of the night sometime about 1982 on local network TV. Needless to say, my copy has commercials interruptions interspersed throughout, but hey, so what. The Stan Getz soundtrack is outstanding. The surreal aspects of this film also will require those who are lucky enough to see it more than one viewing to grasp the directors intent with symbollism. There is a scene near the end of the film where Mickey (Warren Beatty) is running away from imaginary ? gangsters and confronts a Chicago cop in a squad car. The dialogue that follows is priceless...and the very end of the film is very appropriate considering the material.

I'm really curious as to why this is so hard to find. Proven director and actors, one of the greatest Cinematographers of all time. And I can't find a reliable place to watch it.
shareMickey One is about to air on TCM. Don't know where you live, but it is 11:30pm here, and it is just coming on (May 24 2013). Good Luck!
shareThanks Emma! Sadly I just saw this. I don't have Television, though if I could just order TCM I would.
