Ok, I remember seeing a film starring Warren Beatty about 10 or 15 years ago. In the film he receives phone messages from a lady friend. Later in the film, there is a scene in a morgue where the lady friend is dead on the slab and he's there to identify her. Is this scene from the film Mickey One??

It certainly sounds like The Parallax View to me with Paula Prentiss being Warren Beatty's unlucky friend.
Much preferred The Parallax View to Mickey One.
