First Richard Harris scene too dark?

By & large I like the new extended cut(apart from the new soundtrack)but one minor quibble occurs where we first meet Richard Harris getting captured in the river:it seems to be really dark & extremely difficult to see what`s happening.I have tried the ******* obvious & turned the Brightness up but it doesn`t make any difference.Noticing that the dvd has been re-mastered in High Definition I remember recently reading an Xbox 360 game King Kong (remastered in the same format) was virtually unplayable in the darker scenes unless you had H-Def equipment.Although the scene is quite short in the film I wonder if it`s the same problem or maybe my t.v`s knackered!

If I remember right, this scene was filmed in day-for-night so actually it was filmed during the day. I'm no film technician or anything, but I think for the scene on the dvd to be too dark, the actual film negative would have to be overexposed, or at least I think so.

Over at dvdsavant, the joke was made that there are several scenes that you'd better not watch at the noon hour because you won't be able to see anything, including the scene where Richard Harris and co. are captured. You can include the river ambush and the final battle with the Apaches in that catergory. Either way, I'm glad to have that scene back in the movie. It adds a new dimension to the Dundee vs. Tyreen relationship.
