I haven't finished watching the restored version, but there seems to be a continuity error. In the scene where Senta Berger discovers Heston with the whore, Heston seems to either forgotten to put his toupee on or else he's shaved his head. In the following scene, Heston has a full head of hair.
No. He only played God in The 10 Commandments, but I seem to remember seeing him and Kirk Douglas on a Milton Berle special years ago where they rerpised their roles as Ben-Hur and Spartacus. Still an interesting teaming.
Interesting for their contrasting politics. I remember years ago Wayne came up to Douglas after seeing LUST FOR LIFE and asked him how he could play such a character. "But Duke, I was only acting," Douglas replied. "Welll, don't let me catch you at it again." When Katharine Hepburn worked with Wayne, she said she couldn't stand his politics but admired him for what he represented--the kind of strong man who built this country.
And then we have Roy Torcaso who died recently here in Maryland. But that's another story.
Very interesting. The reference to Roy Torcaso was his fight over his right not to believe in God almost 70 years ago when the State of Maryland required you to swear to a belief in God in order to hold public office.
Torcaso took the fight to the Supreme Court which voted unanimously to uphold his right. I first met him in college in 1961 and never forgot what he told me that the state has no right to interfere in a person's beliefs.
Several years ago I gave a speech about my own battle with the Energy Dept and Torcaso came to hear me speak. In Toastmasters we are encouraged to use visual aids and his fight was the centerpiece of my speech.
I don't know. Did Heston forget his toupee and Peckinpah not notice? His hair seems to grow back very quickly when he rejoins his command. I'm still looking for the white car in one of the scenes he has with Senta Berger.
As for THE WILD BUNCH, the number of bounty hunters seems to change between shots during the massacre. I can account for four, but there seem to be five in at least one shot.
PJ, back in the 60's, Heston was a liberal democrat. He marched w/MLK. Like Ronald Reagan, he was the president of the Screen Actors Guild--a union. Both became republicans.
