Allyson Ames

I thought Ms.Ames was luminous here, simply beautiful. She was well cast as a tempting succubus.

Anyone agree?

I agree, absolutely! It's too bad she didn't make more films.

reply

I wholeheartedly concur with you as well; the lovely Ms. Ames was indeed quite alluring and enchanting in "Incubus."

Did she really suck a bus?

Belega!

She was definitely hot, but I don't think she was a very good actress. When she was calm and calculating, she was okay, but when distraught, her facial expressions were all wrong.

reply

Yes, Allyson Ames was very beautiful. With her classic Nordic features, she was almost a dead ringer for the young Bibi Andersson in Ingmar Bergman's early films (which Incubus gives more than a passing nod to).

BTW, at the time Incubus was made, Ms. Ames was the wife of writer-director Leslie Stevens.

I don't quite buy that Nordic look. Her eyes look brown in close-ups and her eyebrows are quite dark, too. I'm guessing she was a brunette who bleached her hair for the movie. Still a beautiful face, though.

reply

Well . . . not all Nordic people are blond, you know!

I concur that she bleached her hair. If you look closely, you can see dark roots. Although, I knew a girl in H.S. who was as blonde as blonde could be, only she had some darkness in her hair too. She said she was actually born a brunette, and turned blonde later as a toddler. So it is possible.
