British Square Stomping

Folks,

If I could have met Ossie Davis and go to ask him one question, it would be how long did it take an exBritish SgtMajor to teach him how to square-bash as they say in the British Army - ie march and salute, etc. Ossie Davis had it down pat in the movie. Personally I don't think he got the credit he should have in his role.

Before I looked him up on IMDB I would have sworn he was from the Carribean and knew the part from life so all the more impressive!

I forgot just how integral Ossie Davis' performance as Jacko King was to this movie. And that during a bitter struggle for civil rights in America, of which Davis and his wife, Ruby Dee, also played an integral part. His berating and belittling at the hands of RSM Wilson (Harry Andrews) brought to life the harsh reality of that time and place as well as his present - that one's soldiering for freedom against a perceived tyranny did not guarantee equality in the British-West Indies or, as it were, the United States. King's refusal to no longer remain a part of such hypocrisy and rebel against it speaks to Davis' own lifelong pursuit of civil liberties.

Objection, your Honor. You can't preface your second point with first of all.
