Ian Hendry - best drunk
Just rewatching the movie and, as ever, I'm bowled over by Ian Hendry's top-flight rendition of a drunk during the Scotch scene. It's just pitch perfect.
"Someone has been tampering with Hank's memories."
Like a lot of people who have been imbibing rather too much the last thing Williams (Hendry) wanted to appear was being drunk. It takes a skilled actor to appreciate this and accurately convey it. And of course he is a very believable bully, whose arrival sets the wheels in motion for the camp's implosion.
shareYes, he gets the bully role perfect. Just rewatching the movie now. When he's first talking to Stevens and he keeps interrupting before Stevens can reply.... brilliant acting.
