1. I was born in 1959, and never saw a hand dryer in a public bathroom until maybe the 1980's.

2. I never knew Harrod's had vans that could be rented and used by putting coins in a slot.

Then again, I'm American, so I don't know about British trends in the 60's.

I remember hand dryers from the early 70's. They were never very common. I also remember those nasty towel belts that went around and around.

They still have those "towel belts".
With the same towels still in them, too...
