a big-budget production, somewhat formatted like a roadshow release(although itwas never was released like that.
altho it looks like it was shot in an 65/70mmlarge format process, in fact they used standard 35mm panavision with superb technicolor ib prints. the quality obtained is wonderful, i particularly enjoyed the location shots around paris.
the great cast, everything,fell into place, proving that b.edwards must have had a great sense of humour, which does not come accross in interviews i've seen.
i would like to see it in the cinema in a 70mm blow-up version.
meanwhile most dvd versions are superb in transfer quality too, with nice extras.
mr laurel and mr hardy would have been impressed, i think !
no remake,please hollywood
