What a great supporting role by Peter Falk!

Others were very good also but Peter Falk was great in this movie.

Falk was the perfect fit as Jack Lemmon's assistant. They were great together in this movie.

"Here come da Marines!"

Peter had the best line in the film: "Maybe she don't mean us". You'll know what he's referring to if you've seen it, and it's definitely hard 'R' material!

Peter Falk is probably the funniest character next to the Jack Lemmon characters. This is his best film role ever. I love every scene of this film. He has great chemistry with Jack Lemmon.

peter falk is outstanding....check out his eole in "pocket full of miracles"....his acting in "the brinks robbery"......the man is a under rated genius! genius!

Also great in the original, "The In-Laws."

"What we need here is more cowbell!"...Christopher Walken

reply

Yes he was a perfect sidekick to Fate! "She's playin' you for a sucka!!!"

Falk was always great at playing comic villians. He was the highlight of "Robin and the 7 Hoods".

OH YEAH....THE ORIGINAL "IN LAWS"....fantastic!

I always laugh when I remember the scene where Max runs in and yells, "Hey Professor!!" ... then gets creamed by at least a dozen pies. Even Falk couldn't keep a straight face - you could tell he was trying hard not to laugh at what was about to happen, hehe.

I had no sooner read that last post as that scene came on (Thank you TCM for showing these great older films as Classics) and you cound't be more correct.

I am usually amazed at the technical aspects of pie fights like this one. I mean, it LOOKS like a lot of fun and it probably is, but really, take after take has got to be kinda hard if the pie isn't exactly thrown directly correct.

I'd love to see a documentary on the way it is done. This one in the hands of Edwards, was brilliant and sorely needed by the point in the film where he added it.

The pie fight was great and I just read on this site that Tony Curtis had to change his outfit several times because some pie got on him.
