marilyn

i wonder if she didnt die that earlie, if Blake would have cats her in the WOOD role.

would have been great.
anyone knows when Blake first started thinking about makin this film? maybe around 1960?

She wasn't right for the part. The role needed someone who was full of spunk, somewhat athletic, and full of street smarts. The public at the time saw Marilyn's characters as very giving, not really the girl who was trying to dig deep for a story.

I don't think so. Marilyn didn't exude woman's rights and woman's suffrage, which is what Natalie Wood was portraying. That, and Natalie Wood knew about melodrama; stagy hammy acting with lots of accented moments.

I know quite a bit about her acting ability, which was superior. But she also had a public image she wanted to preserve. If you hear her talk without her act you'd swear you were listening to a successful modern career woman. But, as a successful actress, she was also concerned with how the films she was in were received. That was her real agenda and concern.
