Blue Ray release with Tony, Peter+ Blake Edwards?
With so few cast members of this classic comedy left, how about a Blue Ray release of this title? I'm sure they would have a lot to say on its production.

shareSince this film was not produced in high definition don't look for a release anytime soon!!
I'm sure there are people out there that think if they watch an old film on a high def channel that it is high def, well I hate to break it to you but what you are seeing is called comb filtering
Only new films that were filmed in a high def format will be released in hi def "Blue ray or otherwise"
"Just because it smells good on the outside, doesn't mean it smells good on the inside"
....um, no.
Film has extremely high resolution. Exactly what type of film the movie is shot in and the state of the master are the limiting factors. Watch a HD copy of The Searchers or the Wild Bunch, they both look breathtaking and it's in no way simply because of comb filtering. Some of the best BluRays/HDDVDs I have are from film sources.
I think it would be great if a Taschen-style book was created for the film. Taschen produced that massive yellow Some Like It Hot (1959) book that had rare interviews and photos (etc) so I think it would be great if they did one on The Great Race (1965). As you say, there is plenty to write about. I watched it (the millionth time) the other day and Jack Lemmon had me in fits of laughter once again.
I feel, in that sense, The Great Race (1965) has that everlasting rare feature that makes you still laugh each time you watch it. It never lets me down in that sense.
Talking of a Blue Ray release, oh yes please. I love the special features on the DVD I own (especially the documentary) but the more DVD editions, the better. I love this film, as you can tell!
