Hannibal Twin-8 (Professor Fate's car)
Does anyone know where it is today?
Also, the same question about the "Leslie Special".
Thanks,

My search finds the Hannibal 8 in the Petersen Automotive Museum.
Here's the link

Thanks for the link. That is the best info/pic I seen so far about the HT-8 on the net.

Some friends of mine recently made a trip to the Peterson and took a ton of pictures for me. That H28 is so heavily 'restored' it bears only a superficial resemblance the original. :(
Apparently it was obtained from Val Kilmer's father in such terrible shape they basically built a new one. As far as I could tell, the only original part on it might be the frame and scissors lift. For instance, the fenders, which are attached to and go up with the body on the original, are part of the frame and stay down on this rebuild.
It is however diplayed next to the sound activated torpedo, and IT looks to be in original condition.
Both are on loan from here:

If you look closely at the pictures on that site, you can see the FULL SIZE Professor Fate submarine behind the car!
I heard somewhere that, along with the HT-8 (which I like to call Fate's Franken-car), Dean Jeffries also designed to original (TV) Batmobile & the Monkeemobile.
shareDean Jeffries' name is in the credits of the TV show for doing the Monkeemobile. George Barris turned the Lincoln Futura concept car into the Batmobile.
I remember seeing the Hannibal Twin 8 in a movie called "Charge of the Model Ts" so it (or one of them) got a fair bit of use after "The Great Race."
The "Trivia" bit says there were 6 of them made for the film, so there should be others out there
share I saw it in denmark back in the 80's. I think it's still there @ petersen's museum.
I have seen this movie maybe 50 times. When I was kid and came back from school I spent my evenings watching 'Raiders of the lost Ark', 'Jaws' or 'The Great Race' on video.
Jack Lemmon just shines in this one...

The Leslie Special, at least one version of the car, appeared with Tony Curtis at the end of the Great Race, the modern Great Race, in Monterey, Ca, last year. I got a great pic of it, but I don't know where it is now. But there is at least one running version around.

I saw both the Hannibal 8 and The Leslie Special at the Hollywood Casino in Tunica MS a cuople of years ago. They were in a fountain display on an iceberg, so I couldn't get as close as i would have liked.
Cruisin' down the highway doin' 79,
I'm a twin-pipe papa and I'm feelin' fine...
I saw the Hannibal 8 at "Cars of the Stars" museum in Buena Park many years ago; it was adjecent to the Movieland Wax Museum. Unfortunately, both museums are now gone, but I was thrilled to see it, but I remember being disappointed that the ice-melting protrusion in front was not functional (I love the sound it makes when Fate gingerly touched it).
"I love corn!"
I saw it at Cars of the Stars too. That place was pretty cool.
