Make no mistake,I love TGAMC & Don Knotts & the entire cast are terrific.However,I did observe a plot point that did not make sense.The newspaper sends Luther to spend the night in the Simmons mansion in order to write a story about his experience.Yet the newspaper publisher never would have received permission from the hostile Nicholas Simmons,owner of the house,for anyone to stay overnight in his house.So Luther was actually illegally trespassing.

Technically, the bank owned the house, which is why Nick Simmons wasn't able to tear the house down.

Good point.I suppose then a case could be made that if the bank is locally owned they might allow the newspaper to have Luther stay overnight.The bank could view it as promoting friendly relations with the public,goodwill,that sort of thing.

You're correct.The banker's wife stated in a scene that she owned 51% of the bank's stock.
