Alma Very Understanding

To want to have a boyfriend that was scared of his own shadow. Maybe small towns have their own weird dynamics.

You have to remember Ollie didn't own her.
And she'd seen Luther a few times at the diner and she realized he was more than
the person that Ollie described to her in late night talks on her front porch.
Perhaps she detected a bit of jealosy in Ollies voice when he talked about Luther.
She had also probally talked to Kelsey a lot about Luther, and he spoke very highly of him.
The ladies of the boarding house also spoke proudly of Luther,
even Mr. Dellagondo told Alma, one day over chicken noodle soup at the diner that Luther Hegg was a fine man.
Then, well, there is always some romantic chemistry known to occur at a C of CC picnic.

Only in movies: Don Knotts wins the heart of the hometown honey, who in real life was a Playboy Playmate.

Have you never seen Knotts' second wife? Knotts also had had some affairs with some nice looking women while married to his first wife. He had a bit a reputation back in the day and got some pretty amazing looking women.

Some people are afraid of the unknown. I don't know why, and it scares me.
