Dick Sargeant

Wow, was this guy the most unlikeable TV actor ever or what?

He single-handedly ruined Bewitched, and even in this movie he comes across as grouchy and off-putting.

How did he keep getting work?

reply

I agree about.Bewitched. Dick Youk was great and when he was replaced by Sargeant it was never the same. But on The Ghost and Mr. Chicken he was worried about the lawsuit. I don't think he was a bad guy, just worried about his newspaper.

reply

I think Sargeant's performance is one of the weak links in the film. He was lousy.

Marriage is between one man and one woman, to the exclusion of all others.

reply

He's right up there with Ron Carey.

reply

I've disliked almost everything I've seen Sargeant do, but I thought he gave a good performance in this. My guess is that he was guided by Alan Rafkin, who was a very good comedy director.

reply

Wow, rough crowd. I thought he as fine.

I thought he was fine also. And I hardly think he ruined Bewitched. The show lasted another three seasons. If he had ruined the show, it would have been gone in 13 episides.

How sad, that you were not born in my time, nor I, in yours.

reply

I haven't seen Bewitched, but I thought he was fine here.

I think Mr. Sargent is fine in this movie, and I much preferred his portrayal of Darrin to Mr. York's. Calm, understated humor much funnier delivery. Just my personal opinion.

reply

I thought Dick Sargent was okay as Luther's boss in the movie. But I have to admit I preferred Dick York as Darren on Bewitched.
