SPOILER ALERT (don't read this if you haven't seen the movie)
At the end the janitor reveals he is the one who stuck the sheers in the portrait - yet how did the portrait not have damage from the sheers when everyone went to the house the next time? Or stains from the blood or bogus blood that dripped from it? This was not explained.
It's not the same picture. The woman in the painting has different dresses on and the background is different. He must have changed the picture.
shareWhy change the picture? It only helped disprove Luther's story about his night in the mansion to the judge,jurors & townspeople when Luther took them through the mansion.
shareI'm guessing it was changed because if Simmons had seen the picture with the shears he would know someone was on to him and done something about it, he most certainly would have disposed of the shears.
