I was wondering exactly how Mr.Kelsey operated the sliding bookcase on the night Luther was there alone?
It was opened via a ornament on the fireplace which is located right next to the bookcase.
But the fireplace is in the same room as the bookcase,when Luther threw the book at the bookcase & it slid open,he was the only one in the room.
The hidden staircase had to be accessible for someone to go up the hidden stairs and to go down those same hidden stairs. While the fireplace ornament was the control for someone who wanted to go up, there had to be another control upstairs, or in the stairway, for someone to come down. Remember, the nephew murderer used those stairs to secretly come down so that no one would suspect that he was upstairs where his uncle supposedly killed his aunt before supposedly jumping to his death. Therefore, the murderer had to have a way to open that bookshelf door in order to come down that hidden staircase.
