stuck/spinning tires scene

Not often you get a GOOD scene of a girl getting her car stuck. This movie has a great example when she tries to drive her Porsche out of the sand and frantically spins her rear tires deeper and deeper. There's just something about a strong, pretty woman getting stuck, at the mercy of her gripless tires!

It's not just the sand causing her car to be stuck, it's also the "Vegetable" standing in front of her car pushing back.

I just saw it for the first time in 20 years. I get the feeling that scene is saying something. Ultimately, Varla is defeated and the Vegetable lives. Her tires get stuck in the sand. Is this Russ Meyer saying that women can't defeat men? In the end, she's killed by a truck: finally defeated by another machine. Possibly, that the raw, pure expression of the human spirit, everything Varla stood for, is ultimately crushed by the machines. Or does it even mean anything? What to you think?

roger ebert said that this scene shows the woman's euqivalent to impotence.

That scene was pretty good. Plenty of suspense.

Especially, after going through all that trouble to get it.

Thats a great scene, although i always think Varla will succeed in crushing the Veg and get away with the money. (Although not before karate chopping the annoying girl hostage to death first)
