Just didn't get it.

The acting was one of my favourite parts of the film. All of the actors seemed to really get in their roles, and the campy style of delivery was part of that. There is a down to earth quality about low budget films that I really like - you can tell the actors probably had a lot of fun doing them. I agree that the storyline left a lot to be desired though.

Err.. I wouldn't really call this a "bad" film though, it's actually quite masterful in what it's doing. But you're right, I don't think you "got it". Not everybody will, we all have different tastes and interests.

The praise for it wasn't limited to female empowerment. If you knew anything about film (which, not to be mean, but it doesn't seem like you do because you didn't make any mention of the directing or composition) you'd know that a lot about how it was shot and the subtle sexual symbolism was actually quite genius. Ahead of its time, really. The writing, particularly the one-liners, are wry and wonderfully cynical.

But you're right, the acting was atrocious and the story line quite boilerplate. But it's a technical achievement, not an entertainment piece. Similar to Night of the Hunter. In a way, you could call it highly original source material or an instruction manual. Strictly for film lovers, not thrill seekers.

If you watch the films of Quentin Tarantino right after FPKK, for instance, you'll see how much of its style he incorporated into his films (the most obvious being the score for the film).

Well, I thought it was a wonderfully entertaining film. It kept me interested the entire time it was on and that's all I want from a film. The acting was great, especially from Tura Satana who is one of the most badass female characters I have ever seen in a film. I'm glad I watched this film and I can see why so many people love it.

I'm with you OP. I guess that I didn't get it either. I've seen several Russ Meyer films and am rather unimpressed. Sure, he's good with the camera. He has some nice compositions and very clean, sharp images, but the dull storylines and amateurish acting always leave me scratching my head. I get the feeling that Meyer's reputation rests on just two things: 1) tackling sexuality in a way that was original for its time, and 2) his dexterity with a camera. OK, that makes him a trailblazer for the former and a good technician for the latter, but those things alone don't add up to good movies. I'd have more respect for him if his movies were actually entertaining.

Another poster mentioned "The Night of the Hunter," but not terribly positively. I found that interesting because I rate that film as one of the best movies of the fifites, if not all time. Russ Meyer never made a movie remotely near that quality, certainly not "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! I totally understand that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but to me, this title is the film equivalent of "The Emperor's New Clothes."

If you can write all that about this film, it means you don't like girls with big tits.
